On Nov. 12, 18-year-old Alexander Dutton of Winter Garden, Fla., was arrested by officer Shavers, for sexual battery in connection with an alleged incident that took place on Oct. 29 at the Nu complex. Dutton’s description matches one that was sent out in an Oct. 30 timely warning email by Campus Safety.
“The timely warning about the nonconsensual sexual intercourse was one that brought forth information that we passed on to the St. Petersburg Police, information that was helpful in solving that particular crime,” Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students James Annarelli said.
According to the arrest affidavit, Dutton allegedly sexually assaulted a female victim who was “physically helpless to resist” around 1 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 29. His bail is set at $100,000.
In a timely warning notice that was sent out on Nov. 12, Campus Safety clarified that Dutton is not affiliated with the college.
As of Nov. 14, campus safety has required a 100% ID Check at the front gate.
